Cool Day

There are some stamp sets that when you look at them you see them in certain colors, this is one of them for me. For the minute I saw it I feel in love with it and new I would use Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs, Barn Door, Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood, and Pumice Stone for shading. I was at the drag strip when I went to start this and realized in the rush to gather things to work on between rounds I forgot my acrylic blocks. So what's a crafter to do...improvise. I used a lid from a takeout dish. I think I like it better than my blocks.

I started off stamping my images in versafine black ink on Canson watercolor paper being careful to wipe away any parts that would over lap prior to stamping. I started painting his shirt with a mixture of tumble glass and weathered wood thinned with water. I started with less weathered wood in the lighter areas and add more for the shaded parts. The stripes on the pole, the hat, and mug were barn door and shaded with pumice stone. The sign and bear were gathered twigs shaded with pumice stone. I used tumbled glass and pumice stone for the ice, snow and fur on hat. The snow flakes were added using MFT snow cone ink. I mounted this on MFT Red Hot and popped it up on fun foam then mounted it to MFT Snow Cone card stock. Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Sketch Challenge 242

I had this idea that popped in my head of taking the penguin from MFT's Penguins In Paradise and the Fringe die and making a grass skirt for it. Of coarse I also had to design a bikini top. I colored all my images with Copics and then cut them out on my Silhouette Cameo. My back ground is watercolored with Tim Holtz distress inks  (seedless preserves, evergreen bough, rusty hinge, festive berrys, antique linen, tumbled glass, squeezed lemonade, and frayed burlap) on watercolor paper. I stamped my sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black using my MISTI. I used an oval die by Spellbinders and cut the water color paper. We R Memory Keepers basket weave embossing folder was used to emboss a piece of SU Daffodil Delight cardstock. My oval and beach ball are popped up on fun foam. MFT Color Challenge 27

The colors for this challenge are green room, blueberry, persimmon, and peach bellini. I started off with the Scribble Roses set by MFT. I used peach bellini as the base color and persimmon as the detail color for the roses. The leaves were stamped in green room and then I put some color on an acrylic block and water colored them. I also went back and touched up the flowers in the same manner. Taking the blueberry ink pad and smooshing it on an acrylic block and adding a few drops of water is how I made my watercolor for the background. After it was all dry I die cut it using MFT'S friend die. I adhered it to a white card base and added some Lucy's cards sequins.

Watercolor with Distress inks and whimsical flowers

I really loved how this turned out.
Starting with Strathmore 140lb cold press watercolor paper I started stamping my images from the Altenew set Whimsical Flowers I colored the center with a wild honey Tim Holtz Distress marker and dabbed salty ocean around the petals. I then stamped it in the center of the paper. As I worked I used my water brush to paint each flower and blend the colors sometimes touching my brush to the ink pad if I needed a little more color. I created a mask for each stamp used with masking paper. Using the mask I stamp the rest if the images painting them as I went. It is very important to let each area you work up against dry to keep the colors from mixing and bleeding. The leaves are stamped and painted in peeled paint. Hello Altenew Painted Flowers

There are few times when you ,yourself look at your work and are completely satisfied. This is one of those times for me. I wasn't sure of my layout, which isn't unusual for me, so I just went with it. What I did know was I wanted to use my new Altenew Painted flowers set and Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I choose my flowers and created mask with masking paper. The inked I used were shaded lilac, crushed olive picked rasberry, abandoned coral and black soot for my sentiment. The first flower was the lilac one in the middle. I applied the lilac to the petals and crushed olive to the leaves. After stamping the image in the upper center I painted it with a water brush. I did each flower the same way using the mask as needed. Some of the leaves I drew in along with all the curly qs with a crushed olive distress marker. My sentiment is stamped in black soot and is from Essentials by Ellen Mondo Magnolia.  Thank you for stopping in, it's my pleasure to share.
